December Daily - December 21

This is the December 21 assignment from the Holidays in Hand class I took from Jessica Sprague.

"Happy, happy Christmas, that can win us back to the delusions of our childish days; that can recall to the old man the pleasures of his youth; that can transport the sailor and the traveller, thousands of miles away, back to his own fire-side  and his quiet home!" ~Charles Dickens

What is the significance of light during the holidays?  Well, let's see...this is the time when we celebrate the Incarnation of the Light of the World (John 8:12).  The angel appeared to the shepherds and "the glory of the Lord shone around them..."  (Luke 2:9)  The star brought the magi from the East to see the young child (Matthew 2:2).  The incarnation is full of the mention of light (assuming that the glory of the Lord is light since it "shone" and typically, we speak of light shining).  So, it's only fitting that stars and candles fill our celebration of Christmas.

Photograph holiday lights - we are going to go out looking at lights either tomorrow (Tuesday) night or Wednesday night.  We haven't decided yet - and it'll be up to Annie since tomorrow is her birthday.  But, when we go out, I'll take photos.  I also need to take photos of our house with the lights on.

The girls got Sorry! (the game) as their Advent calendar gift today and we'll be having family game night tonight.  That is our "do."  Our "make" is cupcake for Annie's birthday.  We're having Annie's two best friends, their siblings and mommies over for cupcakes -- a total of 14 children and 3 mommies.  It will be fun!!!

Remember:  Do you have traditions relating to light? (lights, candles, fire, etc?)  No, no traditions.
