This is the December 13 assignment from the Holidays in Hand class I took from Jessica Sprague.
Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 feet tall. ~ Larry Wilde
Write about the importance to you of your holiday tree. Real or fake? Thanks to allergies (mine) our tree has to be fake. This is the last year we'll be using our current tree - it's a 9-foot pre-lit tree and some of the lights are not working, enough that it's an issue and is time to replace the tree. I love having a 9-foot tree, especially this year since I can only decorate the top 2/3s of it thanks to a toddler who loves to take ornaments OFF as quickly as I put them on! I have collected Hallmark Ornaments since I was a kid, plus my kids each have a series AND they each get an ornament from my mom so I need a lot of tree!
My photo today is of our tree - droopy branches and all.
Our "do" today is attend worship in the morning and our choir and orchestra's concert this afternoon.
Depending on what time we get home this evening. We'll either work on Christmas paper bag albums or we'll work on gingerbread village. Not sure which.
Remember: Do you have rituals or traditions relating to your holiday tree? Brad usually sets up the tree while I'm out on Black Friday. The tree skirt we use is one that I made for Brad's tree when we were dating. He wants me to make a new one. He wants to trace the kids' hands on felt each year, embroider the year (and initials) on the felt tracing and then sew them onto the skirt. He's wanted to do that every year since Elizabeth was a wee one. I wish I'd started it when he first suggested it. Wouldn't it have been fun to watch our family grow - physically and in numbers! Something I definitely want to do. Just have to find my tree skirt pattern and find a good tone-on-tone that I can use for it. And decide what color! (not white or cream, that much I know) Beyond that, I can't think of other traditions we have regarding our tree.
