My sweet friend, Summer, had her baby on Monday. We were all sure she was having a boy. Well, Gracelyn Anneliese was born Monday morning. Um...not quite a boy! She is precious and she looks just like her mommy - with a little bit of her daddy thrown in for good measure. I'm so happy for them. They've longed for this baby for years and I know just how she feels to finally have that sweet baby girl in her arms.
My graduating class has been getting together once a month since our reunion last summer. I'm finally getting to go - between not being quite so necessary for Baby Guy (though he is still nursing) and the end of basketball season. The ones I've attended have been fun and somewhat emotionally charged. Wait, did I just say "somewhat"? No, they've been very emotionally charged. I'm seeing people I literally haven't seen since 10th grade, friends with whom I broke off relationships in high school because of betrayals (and amazingly, 28 years can make a whole lot of that seem so UNimportant) - it's been good.
Annie and I went to Build-a-Bear Workshop last week. She got a bunny (surprised me, I thought for sure she'd want a frog) and named her Strawberry. She also got a stroller for her bunny. Several times while we were in the store, she would spontaneously throw her arms around me, "Thank you, Mommy! I love you!" Seeing her so happy and so excited was an absolute joy. It was one of those mommy-moments that we, as moms, live for. She was absolutely adorable wheeling her bunny around the mall in its stroller. And I mean that kind of adorable that made teenage boys look at her and break into huge grins (you know how they typically think they're too cool for that). When people would ask her, "What is your bunny's name?" She'd barely whisper, "Staw-be-bee" and so I would have to interpret for her. Just as cute as she could be and it was a fun day!
