After dealing with infertility for 9 years (and not always well, I must admit), we were blessed with four children in five years – three girls and a boy, all born after I turned 35. Proof that God's timing is perfect. And I joke that proof He has a sense of humor? When I was 45 my son was 2. Two!! That's funny right there, I don't care who you are! :) When I was pregnant, I refused the title “Advanced Maternal Age” and instead told my OB to replace that red “AMA” sticker on my chart with a hot pink one that said “OPC” for “Old Pregnant Chick.” Thanks to being in my mid-40s, I’m more frequently mistaken for my children’s grandmother than their mother; though, recently highlighting and coloring my hair has seemed to resolve that. I am currently homeschooling the girls while trying to keep the preschooler off the top of the fridge (apparently there is some mountain goat DNA in the family gene pool – all my kids love to climb!). When I’m not doing laundry or ironing, I’m trying to do inductive Bible study (I have to be honest that I do the "lite" version right now), reading something from the pile of magazines and books that I’ve been collecting for the past year, paper crafting or trying to expand my baking skills which is, in turn, expanding my waist. I am a living example of Psalm 113:9 - He makes the barren woman abide in the house as a joyful mother of children. Praise the LORD!
