I decided to go through my Amazon wish list and check to see what the public library has in their collection. No reason to buy it from Amazon when I can just borrow it from the library, huh? :) And, seeing as how the library has several of the books I want to buy, I've requested them. I love that I can request them, have them delivered to my local branch then all I have to do is pop in to pick them up when I get an email telling me they've arrived. These are a few of the books on my list. Most of my list is baking cookbooks, though, and they aren't abundant in the library. The rest of my list is music and DVDs.
"What did you request," you ask?
Baking: From My Home to Yours by Dorie Greenspan. I've been following several foodie bloggers who are part of the Tuesdays with Dorie group and so I really want to look through this book to see if the things in it are things I could accomplish without a Kitchenaid mixer, a food processor and a million special baking pans or tins. I'd like to know if I really want to buy this cookbook. :)
Sweet Revenge and Dark Tort both by Diane Mott Davidson - her books are fun, light mysteries - great for the pool or the beach if you're not having to keep a close eye on Egglets (which means I read them in bed or the tub).
Purpilicious Okay, so this isn't a book for me - it's a book for the girls, which I could've put on one of their cards, but I didn't feel like logging out and back in as one of them. (Yes, I'm pleased to report that all four of my children have library cards!) We have, and they love, Pinkalicious so I'm going to give this one a try despite the less-than-stellar reviews on Amazon. I'll read it and see what I think. I need to check on Fancy Nancy books, too. Nin loves, loves, loves Fancy Nancy! She "reads" the four she has all the time. If she loves the others as much, they'd be worth the investment. About a month ago we checked out Storm is Coming for Nin and she loved it. We checked out several other books that day, but Storm is Coming was the one that Nin wanted to read and be read over and over and over. I think we may invest in it. She did not want to take it back. I love the humorous way it shows the animals being afraid of "Storm" and how they react to the darkening sky, the thunder and lightning - it is a very cute book and I highly recommend it for young children.
Elizabeth was distressed that her sisters had colored on her Summer Reading Club "card" but I just found the PDF on the library system's website. Yay. Now to find some colorful paper to print it on - I have some around here somewhere. She'll be thrilled.
I'm going to do a "ph-log" tomorrow so be prepared. (photo-filled blog if you're wondering)

I LOVE requesting books from the library and just having to run in and get them once they have arrived. So easy and so cheap! :)
