I hate the ER

Elizabeth fell at Bill and Diane's tonight - tripped when coming over to me while I was changing Annie. She fell and whacked the snot out of her chin on the end table - split it wide open. The laceration was about 2cm long. Bill and Diane came home so he could look at it - he said, "Definitely needs stitches. I'll call the ER and tell them you're coming." Brad brought Nin and Annie home. Sammie came to Bill & Diane's to get me & Elizabeth and take us to the ER. E had said she wanted Daddy to take Nin and Annie home and MiMi to go with us.

The ER doc gave Elizabeth about 10 injections in the chin - and just like Drew did about 7 years ago - E felt every shot AND the stitches. She screamed and fought and it was horrible. It didn't help that he had to have the drape over her face (just part of trying to have a sterile field around the wound). Poor E, she was scared and hurting. It took the nurse, me AND Sammie to hold her down so he could get stitches two and three in. E kept screaming that she wanted to go home. :( The doc was going to try to give her some more lidocaine, I think...I barely remember it. I just remember saying, "Let's get these other stitches done." He was baffled that the Lidocaine didn't work and she was feeling it. I'm wiped out, to say the least. I'm sure MiMi probably is as well.

The nurse gave E a little goodie bag as we were leaving. It had a pencil, a lollipop, a piece of candy and "Look Mommy! I got two candy canes. One for me and one for NinNin." One for NinNin...what a sweetie that big girl of mine is.

As we were driving down University after leaving the hospital, E announced to Sammie, "I'm hungry!" So, MiMi drove through Wendy's at 11:00 at night and got some chicken nuggets and french fries (I know, you're so surprised, aren't you?) AND a Frosty. And Elizabeth scarfed down every bit of it. Well, not all of the fries, but definitely all of the nuggets and the Frosty. Silly girl.

When I tucked her in her bed she said, "Mommy, let's not go back to that doctor behind my doctor. That really hurt me and I was scared." (the hospital is behind the Doctor's Building where the pediatrician is) and then, "Mommy, I just love you." I just love you, too, Elizabeth; and yes, let's not go back there.

I'd like to cry, but my husband isn't going to let me.
