Around here

I've been pretty incommunicado around these parts lately. Trying to get organized and geared up for school - will probably start sometime next month. I know what I want to order...I think...I just need to get it DONE. Really, I can start everything now except Elizabeth's math.

I'm a little apprehensive about the younger two while I'm doing school. I've been told that this is probably my hardest year. I don't take that as discouragement, I take that as "thank you for telling me!!" Having this information allows me to PLAN for it not to go perfectly. I'm hoping Annie will take more interest in the little preschool program this year than she did last. I think she will, that year makes a world of difference! And since Harrison loves to have a pencil or crayon in hand, he may spend time in his chair or at the table coloring while we're doing handwriting or something.

I've continued to attend Lions Night Out once a month with many of my former schoolmates. It has expanded and we have schoolmates who graduated in '82, '84, '85 and '87 attending. I've had some great conversations reconnecting with old friends. In July we had about 100 people there - schoolmates and spouses/significant others. It's been...interesting to say the least. However, I've reconnected with some old friends which has been fun. And, I've had some conversations that needed to happen long ago to heal some pretty deep wounds - both my own and ones I caused.

Harrison is teething - eye teeth - and as a result, isn't sleeping well. He's saying Annie now, which is cute and fun! At 17 months, his vocabulary is much more limited than the girls were; however, he can still get his point across. He says Mama, Dada, bye-bye (with waves), ni-ni (long i sound - for night-night), nurse (to nurse) and Annie. He signs more, please, thank you and all done. He also makes a specific noise when he's trying to tell us something, he sounds like a Sleestack. And he's good at pointing us to what he wants. He's also climbing all over everything.

Life is extremely busy, I'm not sleeping well and I wish I could say everything was just hunky dory, but it's not. Simple fact. Not a whine. :) Just life.

We're getting ready for school, as well. Can't wait to get started. I have a few things ordered, but I'm breaking the curriculum up, so it's not costing me so much money, all at once.

I hope teething goes by quickly & I hope you get some sleep!

So been there, Gina - except homeschooling with 4 so close in age. :) Build in "bad" day allowances (like snow days but instead for days where things are just not going well or you're not feeling up to homeschooling) and you'll feel more "OK" with letting go here and there. It's nice to plan for a little failure so we don't feel like SO much of a failure, you know?? LOL

I have everything all set for this year so we're good to go. I think I'll start the last week of the month of August (schools start here after labor day). Or else I'll start when the schools do and let myself get caught up around the house - we'll see what happens.

Sorry about the teething. It's so hard when you're going through it but, as you know, it DOES end. ((HUGS))
