My friend

Okay, those of you who are pray-ers...I need you again!

I have a precious friend, Jo, who is in ICU at a local hospital in critical condition with multiple organ failure. Jo is one of my dearest friends on earth and I am extremely concerned for her. :( She had surgery last week and it went well -- very well. But then she spiked a fever on Sunday and had to be readmitted. Things have pretty much gone downhill from there. She's having surgery again this morning to see if they can find the source of the problem and treat it. Post-anesthesia recovery is very difficult for her physically - and because she has her BSN, she knows that is also one of the most dangerous times for a patient so she struggles with it (beforehand) on that level as well. She always prays Psalm 4:9 (In peace, O Lord, I will lie down and sleep for You Alone cause me to dwell in safety) before she has surgery. So please pray that for her!

To tell you how close a friend she is to my family - when I was induced with Elizabeth - my husband, my mother and my sister were in the LDR room with us -- and so was Jo. When my OB asked her "What role are you going to play today?" She replied, "My job is to stand in the corner and pray." When Elizabeth went into distress early in my labor - Jo stood by my bedside, held my hand and prayed (E recovered and tolerated the rest of my labor well). As I pushed and pushed and pushed, trying to get that baby girl out, Jo stood back and prayed. When Paul said, "This baby is stuck and we need to get her to move, soon. I don't want her going into distress again." Jo, again, moved to my bedside - this time held my leg instead of my hand ;) - and prayed. When Paul said, "Let's go to the OR" Jo was at my side - again, praying with us and for us and for Paul.

I could not ask for a more precious friend nor my girls for a more precious JoJo.

So now, it's my turn to pray and pray and pray for my friend and I ask that you all join me.

Oh, Gina, I'm so sorry. I've heard you talk about Jo and I know what an important person she is in your life. She -- and you -- will be in my thoughts...
