Anniversary ideas

CMs if you've read my iConnect blog then this is a retread...

My 17th wedding anniversary is in about 2½ weeks - March 3 to be exact, which is a Saturday this year. We don't have any discretionary income for me to spend on a gift. We were planning to go away for the weekend but...see previous sentence... So, now I'm wondering what can I do for him? Our anniversary is always a "big deal." Always. For as long as we've been together he has always celebrated our anniversary (first date and then, once married, wedding). Because of some circumstances in our life - he arranged a surprise vow renewal for our fifth wedding anniversary and surprised me with a night in a very nice hotel. Even when Elizabeth was only 8 weeks old and I was having surgery the next day - we celebrated with dinner out and had my sister and BIL keep Elizabeth. A dinner which then put me on the floor (literally) writhing in pain for the next 10 hours with absolutely zero sleep...and convinced me I needed the surgery -- but I digress! I was thinking we didn't do anything last year - but we did, we just had to postpone it until later. I'd like for us to do something - as a couple, not as a FAMILY. As much as I love my girls, I think Brad and I really need some ALONE time. I think I'm going to farm out the girls. My sister volunteered to keep Annie. My mom said she would keep the big girls (she won't keep all three of them...sore spot with me so please don't ask)

Me cooking a special dinner is a no-go because if I go into the kitchen to cook, he'll come in to take over and totally blow the whole reason I was in there in the first place (he's the cook). And that is why I typically don't prepare dinner. When I try, he ends up taking over. My friend Shannon calls him the Kitchen Nazi because he did that at a luncheon our Care Group put on years and years ago. I just have to laugh - she's right!

Cards? Gift ideas? Anyone? Anybody? Bueller?

Wish I had some ideas for ya chicky...but I'm SURE you can come up with something! :) Maybe it's time for him to use one of those coupons that you gave him for Christmas??? Hmmm??? LOL!!

Happy Anniversary! I do understand about couple time...we have less and less of that ourselves.

Good luck of thinking of something. I'm not good with that type of thing at all! Wish I were though.
How nice that your hubby cooks! Mine does too but not all the time. Nice to get a break though
