My grandmother has been unconscious for three days now. However, her kidneys and digestive system are working (both had been threatening to shut down). She's got some blood clots in one of her arms and who knows what else is going on. My uncle and aunt can't get to her - nor do they need to try - they're all in Oklahoma City, which is coated in ice. Too risky! My sister has a flight over there Friday and plans on getting the scoop then. My sweet uncle isn't really knowledgeable enough in medical stuff to know what to ask and/or know how to relate to us what he's being told - so that makes it more difficult to know exactly how to interpret what we're hearing. It'll be good to have my sister over there for a day. I'm going to make sure she gets the phone number for the nurses station so one of us can call to get more info if we need something cleared up. It doesn't help that we are getting this third-hand - my uncle to my dad to my mom and then to us.
And my uncle, bless his heart - he's put off hip surgery (he needs a hip replacement and he's only in his early 50s) until things are better with Grandma. It makes me with they were ALL here so we could help all of them.
So, Grandma is still in critical condition and having her several hundred miles away sucks -- especially with weather like it is now.
