This child is going to be the death of me!

Annie has a thing for getting into my purse.  She knows that I keep gum in there now (I used to not) so she'll either sneak out to the van, if I've left my purse in the van, or she'll take my purse into Harrison's room and hide behind his crib to go through it. She puts make-up on (all over her face), stuffs every bit of gum into her mouth that she can get in it, and writes with all my pens.  It has become a discipline issue for her.

Well, today, she learned why I've made it a disclipine issue.  While Elizabeth and I were doing math, Annie went off to do her thing.  Not unusual so I didn't think a thing of it.  Just as we're wrapping up so we can go pick-up Nin at preschool, Annie starts crying really hard. She's obviously hurt.  She's holding her hand and wailing about how her hand hurts.  I asked her if she'd crawled under the computer armoire (thinking she'd gotten her hand snapped by a mouse trap we have under there...we have a "Mickey" in our house...ick!). Then Elizabeth said, "Mommy! My EpiPen!"  I look and sure enough, Annie has gotten into Elizabeth's EpiPen, Jr.  {panic}  I call the pediatrician's office.  "I don't know if I need to talk to you, call 911, go to the ER or call Poison Control. I'm starting with you."  Told her what happened, she put me on hold.  In the mean time, I'm looking Annie over and check the EpiPen - it's definitely been used. No more solution in the pen, hole in Annie's hand.  Great.  Girl comes back on the phone - talked to a doctor and there's nothing to worry about. Annie will be hyper for the afternoon due to the adrenaline, but there's no threat to her health.  Thank you, Lord, for that!! I was relieved; but still called Tandy to make sure they were shooting straight with me.

I was hopeful she'd learned her lesson - but later in the afternoon, she was in my purse again!  This child, I tell you, she's going to be the death of me!!!

Oh, my WORD! That would've freaked me out! Maybe if gum is the motivation for getting into the purse, you can threaten her with no gum for a week if she gets into your purse without permission? You'd think that the epipen episode would have been scary enough to break her of that habit.

I'm surprised she was back in the purse but maybe she thought..."I just won't touch the epipen". I'm so glad she is okay.

That's scary! I'm glad it didn't any real harm to her, but hope you can figure out how to keep her out of your purse!
