We'll go in reverse order and talk about my funny girl first...
A couple of weeks ago Annie was looking through our church's pictorial directory from 2002. The photos were taken in the fall of 2001 so the photo of our family was of me and Brad. So, Bitsy points at the photo and says, "Mommy! Here are just you and Daddy!"
Me: "Yes, that is me and Daddy. That's before we had children."
Bits: {studies the photo thoughtfully for a few seconds} "Mommy, you don't have those things on your mouth in this picture."
Me: "What things on my mouth?"
Annie: {draws her index finger from the base of her nose down to the corners of her mouth} "These things. Mommy, in this picture you're not...old!" {then she wrinkles her nose and gives the cutest little grin ever}
Me: {laughing} "Sweet baby girl, I got these wrinkles from having YOU!!!"
I tell you...if that child weren't so cute, she'd probably long ago have been eaten or sold to the gypsies!!! (okay, not really)
Now, my sweet boy...
We've had storms moving through our area for the past couple of nights. Harrison isn't the world's best sleeper, even on a good night - so add rumbling thunder to the equation and he's going to wake up. Tonight, he woke kicking his covers and generally unhappy about something. I went in to try to console him; he was asleep and I couldn't wake him, so he was inconsolable. He ended up sitting on the floor facing me, wailing about not getting to play Wii. I said, "Son, it's 10:00. You're asleep. You're not playing Wii and I'm leaving the room." As I stood, he finally snapped out of his sleep. "Hold me!!" I picked him up and asked him if he wanted a drink of water, "No" do you want to nurse? "No" Do you just want me to hold you? He wrapped his arms tightly around my neck, buried his face under my ear and simply said, "Yup." No worries, Bubba. I'll be happy to do so. He calmed down and within seconds was blissfully sleeping again.
