Baby bookish stuff

First of all, our family's box of memories is going well - of course we are only 12 days into it - but the kids love thinking of their favorite memory each day.  Some days have been much easier than others (7" of snow, anyone? and by the way, that snow is still on the ground, which is very unusual for Arkansas!)

Elizabeth had her well-child visit. She loves the new pediatrician. She is 48.75" tall (4 feet 3/4 inch). Wow! She's so big!!!  And she weighs 52.6 pounds. No shots necessary. She was very quiet, though. Very shy.  But several times after we left the clinic she told me how much she liked the new doctor.

Harrison flushed the following down the toilet in the kids' bathroom:  the cardboard tube from a roll of bathroom tissue, a foam paint brush, a votive candle.  Brad had to take the toilet off the floor to get everything out of it!  I'm so thankful for a husband who knows how to make those repairs so we didn't have to pay a handyman or plumber to do it.

One of my children learned about consequences in a big way. She was to have gone to a Father-Daughter dance with her daddy and one of her sisters tonight. While I was gone for a bit this afternoon, he told the child to clean her room.  She didn't do it.  He went back and told her again.  She still didn't do it.  He went back a third time, "Clean your room or we will not go to the Father-Daughter dance."  She still did not clean her room.  {sigh} So, she did not go to the Father-Daughter dance (and neither did the other sister - because that sister was asleep).  A sad lesson that "hurt my heart", to quote her.  Gave me a good opportunity to talk with her about consequences.

Annie has been enrolled in preschool for next year (preK).  Her older sisters have been through this preK program and Annie has always thought she was part of that class, anyway.  The school staff was so excited that we are bringing her there. They not only teach my kids, but love my family and I really like that about them.

My sweet Katherine had an opportunity to fall apart today and she resisted. I'm so proud of her.  I managed to walk out of the house this morning without Katherine's, Annie's or Harrison's Valentines and their V'Day bags for others to put Valentines in. Elizabeth had put hers in the van the night before. We were about 3 miles from the church when I realized what I'd done.  Of course, I felt horrible.  I literally wanted to cry because I knew what a big deal this party was to Nin.  We were able to find her a bag and she got Valentines (so did Annie and Harrison), she played games, she had a cupcake.  She had a wonderful time. And on Sunday, she's going to take the Valentines she made since Sunday is  actually Valentine's Day. I think that might be the thing that helped her not totally lose control.

Girl Scout Cookies will be delivered to us next Saturday. Yikes!  When I'm looking for the forms - y'all remind me that they're in the file folder by the printer.
