Meme from Susan

Susan posted a meme about 2008 and I thought I'd play along.  If you're reading, consider playing with us - and if you do, please leave me a comment and let me know.  I think I visit most of you who comment. :)

1. Where did you begin 2008? At home, watching TV.
2. What was your status by Valentines Day? I was quite pregnant and scheduled to have a baby the next morning!
3. Were you in school anytime this year? No.
4. Did you have to go to the hospital?  Yep, and brought home a lovely parting gift!
5. Did you have any encounters with the police? Not beyond talking to the ones I attend church with.
6. Where did you go on vacation? No. Went to visit Brad's parents a couple of times - but visiting family (or friends) and going on vacation are two different things.
7. What did you purchase that was over $100? A 19" flat-screen TV that we put in our bedroom after lightning blew out the one that was in there.
8. Did you know anybody who got married? I think so - but I can't remember for sure.
9. Did you know anybody who passed away? Yes, several people. My uncle's wife
10. Did you move anywhere? No, nothing that exciting! My parents moved - does that count?
11. What sporting events did you attend? I got left at the hospital while my husband went to a UALR basketball double-header.  Does that count for anything?  :) (yes. seriously)
12. What concerts/shows did you go to? High School Musical on Ice.  Stop laughing.
13. Describe your birthday. We had burgers, cake and ice cream at my sister's house. Annie got gifts.  Or I got gifts.  No...Annie got the gifts (proof is here) - and the next day she got a tummy bug.
14. What is the ONE thing you thought you would not do, but did, in 2008? I really didn't think we'd have any more children after Annie.  Obvioiusly I knew in 2007 that was going to happen.  I also didn't ever think I'd have a tubal - but did when Harrison was delivered.
15. What have been your favorite moments? Anything involving my children.  I still remember the day that Harrison and Elizabeth were snuggled together in my bed - he was asleep in her arms and she looked like such a proud big sister.  Watching Elizabeth as she's learned to read and sound out words, teaching her math and seeing how she loves it.  Conversations with Katherine that have made me laugh out loud (she's such a funny bird).  Watching Annie blossom.  Snuggling with my sweet baby boy.
16. Any new additions to your family? Just a sweet little guy, Thomas Harrison.
17. What was your best month? Probably November into December.  Things started to look up, grey skies cleared up, post-partum issues were completely gone...just in time for the holidays.
18. Who has been your best drinking buddy? I don't really have a "drinking buddy" but I've had some really, really good friends this year.
19. Made new friends? Yes
20. Favorite night out? Did we have a night out?!  I know we did, but I honestly don't remember it! Oh, yes I do!!!  Brad and I went to a great Greek restaurant while we were at his parents - and his mom kept the kids.  It was so nice!
21. Other than home, where did you spend most of your time?  Either the library, church or Hannah's house - not sure which. Probably the library.
22. Have you lost any friends this year? Yes
23. Change your hairstyle?  Let it grow out and had it cut to be closer to one length all over (though at this point I have several places where I have hair that's about an inch-and-a-half long - regrowth from post-partum hair loss)
24. Have any car accidents? Yeah, but nothing serious.  My exterior passenger-side mirror had an altercation with a mailbox.  Ripped the mirror right off.  That stunk.  $270 to replace - it happened right at the end of the year so we're still trying to work out schedules to get it repaired.
25. How old did you turn this last year? 43
26. Do you have a New Years resolution? I don't make resolutions but I have chosen a word for the year.
27. Do anything embarrassing? I'm always doing something embarrassing. I put the wrong number of candles on Elizabeth's cake and didn't realize I'd done it until my sister said something.
28. Buy anything from eBay? No. I did watch a few auctions and considered bidding.
29. Get married or divorced? No.
30. Get hit on?  Only by this guy who fathered my children.
31. Been snowboarding? Are you kidding?! No way!
32. Did you get sick this year?  I don't think so - not beyond the issues from recovering from my c-section.  Not that I remember.  Now the kids did...but I don't remember me getting sick.
33. Are you happy to see 2008 go? Yes, I have to say I am.  I think 2009 is going to be better.
34. Been naughty or nice? I'm whiney and complaining and a horrible sinner - so I'm mostly naughty.
35. What are you looking forward to most in 2009? Just having a better year, learning to be gentle and kind with my family, planning my 20th wedding anniversary trip.  We'll start planning this year to go in 2010 - any suggestions? Don't want to do Hawaii and don't really want to go anywhere that requires a passport.  Northern Italy is my dream (the art!) - but Brad would hate it.  Alaska is his dream (the fishing!) - but I would likely be bored out of my skull.  :)  Need a good compromise.

That is a neat one and a good, concise way to review the past year.
