Just another Freaky Friday

No, unlike the Disney movie, my daughter and I didn't switch bodies.  It was just one of those days.

Harrison had some sort of puncture wound that ran under his finger nail on his left middle finger.  It was very infected, so I called for an appointment with the pediatrician.  As I walked out the door to load everyone into the van for the trip to preschool, he refluxed all over me - and I was wearing black (never a good idea!).  I grabbed another shirt and thought, "I'll change when I can."

Dropped Nin off at school, buzzed through Starbucks for a cup of decaf. Decided to run by a friend's house to borrow the bathroom to change shirts.  She went out to the van to check Harrison's finger and give her opinion.  She agreed - it was *ugly*.  We talked about what to do if the ped wanted to mess with it beyond lancing and she said, "Leave the girls with me."  I was honestly worried about how freaked out Elizabeth would be if she went with us so I took her up on the offer since she assured me it wouldn't mess up her school for the morning.  My girls had a great time playing with her three youngest kids and I was so grateful to be able to focus on Harrison.

Brad met me at the clinic - just in case we needed to go to a hand surgeon (yeah, it was that ugly).  Thankfully, we did not.  The ped lanced it, Harrison HOWLED and it's much better already.  They cultured it and will let us know the results.  If it isn't MRSA then we don't have to do oral abx, only topical.

Checked email before leaving for the office - I had a fact-finding email from Wondertime.  I'd responded to a reader call-out about non-material holiday traditions and my submission may "possibly" be used in their December issue.  The last time I responded to one of their reader call-outs (about birthday traditions) my submission was picked up.  I'm pretty excited.  And honestly, it's been so long ago, I don't remember what I submitted!   It was either about our Family Christmas Craft Days or it was about how we only do three gifts for each of our children since that's what Jesus received (of course, our gifts aren't as extravagant as the gold, frankensence and myrrh He received). Can't remember...had a baby and not slept much since then, you know.

Need to download off the camera - a photo of Annie vacuuming the family room.  It's too cute!  I'll share, maybe tomorrow.

Oh poor Harrison! That finger wound sounds painful & icky. I hope it heals quickly & he doesn't need antibiotics.

Okay, I'm happy to prove to myself that my memory still works on occasion... I believe that your Wondertime thing was about birthday cards that you had people create for E that she could open at different ages or something. (If you recall, I saw your name in there while I was stealing a few minutes of quiet in my locked bathroom one day long ago. When else can I read magazines?)
