Reflux or just a puker?

I have a call in to the pediatrician's office. Annie has recently been crying in pain and as soon as we pick her up, she pukes everywhere. And I don't mean "just a little spit-up" that so many new moms refer to as "spitting up everywhere". I mean, I'm soaked and she's soaked and whatever bib she has on is soaked and whatever burp cloth I'm holding is soaked. Pukes. Everywhere. And then because her belly is empty, she wants to nurse again.

She doesn't show any of the other classic signs of reflux, especially arching her back; but crying and then puking is enough to make me ask what else should I watch for and how do I tell if it is *my* diet or if it is a problem with her. She's gaining weight fine and having normal wet and dirty diapers. It's just the emesis that's an issue. Poor baby girl. And the smell of dried, sour breastmilk...blech.

I got a gift certificate to a local gourmet place from my small group in Women's Club. It is a very nice amount and we'll be able to do two full meals (entree, salad, bread and dessert) plus another half-entree. I love it when neither Brad nor I have to cook. Oh, wait, I don't cook anyway. I love it when Brad doesn't have to cook.

I've avoided balancing the checkbook long enough. How do people manage to not balance their checkbooks every month? That would drive me insane. Or those who don't balance it to the penny? Eeek! Thank goodness for MS Money - I can do it without thinking. Just check off the credits and debits and wait for it to make a little happy ding to let me know I've balanced.

We tried not breast feeding...we tried every diff formula...then we did the meds and he was fine. He was on meds for the first 1yr. Guess I am just saying...I am glad you are checking into it.

Glad you are checking in to the reflux possibility... Bryce had reflux when he was little. It didn't start until he was 2 weeks old- no crying, arching the back or anything else just major spitting- on the verge of throwing up and he would do it over and over and over again after eating. What really convinced me was that I leaned over him once while he was sleeping and he was breathing through his mouth- I could smell the acid on his breath. Thank goodness our pediatrician didn't blow me off as being a new mom who didn't know anything. We put him on reflux meds and that helped a ton- it didn't negate the spitting up, just put it back down at a normal level. He was on the meds for about 6 months before we started slowly weaning him off them. Let us know how she is doing!
