Sweet Harrison

One year ago today, I was awake at 4:30 - just like today.  Only last year, it was my nerves that woke me - not a snoring little girl.  I cannot believe how quickly the past year has gone.  As I look back over the past year, it hasn't always been an easy year - in many ways it has been the hardest year of my life - but it has been a wonderful year.

I can remember my friend Rebecca telling me that she couldn't wait for me to have a little boy so I could understand what she meant when she said she had a "crush" on her son, Evan.  And now?  I get it.  I totally get it. I love my girls. I adore my girls.  But this little guy? It's different. I love that he growls right before he grabs my head and kisses me (as in the photo). I love that I'm buying clothes adorned with balls, sharks, lizards, surf boards or anything with wheels (the latest outfit had a monster truck on it, which I hate but I needed the brown shorts) that only comes in red, blue, green, khaki or brown. I love that I'm one of those moms who now understands the frustration in the previous sentence.

Happy birthday, HehsinBoy! We love you and are blessed beyond all imagination to have you in our family. You love Elizabeth and often reach for her. You love to play with Katherine. You love to pull Annie's hair (probably because she's usually laying on you).  You think Daddy is funny. But you're still Mommy's Boy. And that works for me.
