My, my, my what an interesting fall it has been. In August, we were not too surprised to have the July ultrasound confirmed. Yep, Anne Lancaster will be here at the end of the year! However, we were surprised to hear there might be a problem with her heart. Originally, the thought was that she had interrupted aortic arch and ventricular septal defect. Definitely not something you want to hear. We were encouraged that she did NOT have cleft lip/palate which is very common with Di George's syndrome babies -- a chromosomal abnormality that is most often associated with the heart defects listed. We went back in mid-September - ah, a perfectly formed aortic arch. However, there was still the question of VSD. So, we had a fetal echo. Thankfully, Annie's heart is physically perfect (we know spiritually it is deceitful above all things and desperately sick -- Jer17:9) -- phew!!!!
My big girls are growing like WEEDS!!! Every day is a new adventure. They're playing together so wonderfully and we are having a ball watching them grow. Katherine has added so many words to her vocabulary, I'm amazed and have stopped trying to keep up. Some of the ones that really crack me up are:
- Jump rope -- anything long and thin qualifies; including her Daddy's belts and the cord to the vacuum
- medicine -- learned during our recent bout with snot rocket noses (love those allergies)
- shower -- said every time she finishes eating because we usually head straight to the shower after dinner and she's usually trying to take off her clothes as she says it
- All around -- this comes from our diapering routine. I've always said, "Bootie up! Bootie down! Diaper all around!!"
- Boop -- this is my mom's "name", but it is also the word for the telephone because we always call Boop.
- Bubbles -- what she calls her favorite DVD because it has kids dancing around while bubbles are floating in the air
- Bear - formerly used for all stuffed animals and her Taggie (tm) blankets, this is now used solely for her big stuffed monkey, and when she says it, it sounds like "Beer"
Elizabeth is in love with all things Disney Princess and will be Snow White for Halloween, though now she's saying she wants to be Cinderella. Tough kiddo. Bippie already has the Snow White costume!!! "No. Nin-Nin be Snow White. I be Cinderedda!" Um...no. E also loves to "nuggle" in bed with Mommy every chance she gets -- usually falling asleep in there and then Daddy has to move her if he wants any space to sleep. She's way too heavy for me to lift now. I can't believe she's almost three.
Annie will most likely be here before Christmas but definitely before the end of the year according to my OB. ACK! Time to suck it up and buy the mini van.
