So this afternoon my almost-22-month-old has a massive meltdown over not getting Dora Fruit Snacks - and I mean, massive meltdown. She threw herself against the kitchen cabinets in absolute dispair while wailing, "Dor-da! Dor-da!" She would come into the family room and look at me with the most pitiful face, "Dor-da?" asking almost hopefully. "Will she have changed her mind?" I could see the look in her eyes. "No. You've already had Dora snacks today." More wailing and flailing about ensued. This continued for over an hour...then Dada came home. A new ally for Elizabeth or for me? Still, no Dora snacks appeared. Oh, no, a new ally for that mean woman!!!
However, we did distract her -- with an evening of pumpkin carving! We carved Dora into the pumpkin (got the stencil off NickJr.com). She wasn't impressed at all until we put the candle in and lit it. Then, she threw her arms around me, "Mama! Dor-da! Dada! Dor-da!!" This child loves Dora the Explorer. I often tell people, "The ranking to Elizabeth goes like this: (1) God (2) Baby Jesus (3) Dora." Yes, she ranks up that high.
New or additional vocabulary words: ice; tooth; lamp; hot dog
I went in this afternoon to get Katherine out of her bed when she woke from her nap and she was so sweet! She was laying in the crib, on her side, snuggling with Meg (her nutmeg colored teddy bear, hince the name) and chewing on Meg's nose. It was sweet to see.
